Tips for Writing Reviews
Useful and well-written reviews are valuable input for the entire online review community using FORORY, including the businesses reviewed. We do have guidelines governing what should and should not be included in reviews posted on FORORY…
PROVIDE USEFUL CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK
A good review includes enough detail to give others a feel for what happened. Elaborate on which factors contributed to your positive, negative experience. You might also offer your view on what you think the business is doing well, and in which ways they might improve. But keep things friendly and courteous!
WRITE ABOUT A RANGE OF ELEMENTS, INCLUDING CUSTOMER SERVICE
Increase the relevance of your review by addressing your overall experience, including the level of customer service you received. Tell people how helpful or useless the business was! Focusing on only one element provides limited insight to readers.
BE DETAILED, SPECIFIC, AND HONEST
There’s no rule against only writing a handful of words in a review, but obviously the more specific you can be, the more likely the review is to be useful. Try to be as accurate as possible, and include both the positive and negative aspects of your experience. We suggest writing from your own individual perspective, keeping it honest and sticking to the facts.
Not every experience with a business is going to be perfect. Sometimes you’ll want to share negative feedback. Even if you’re frustrated, make sure your criticism is constructive. Businesses often use feedback to improve their offerings.
PROOFREAD YOUR REVIEW
Readers will pay attention when you write thoughtful reviews. Keep them readable and avoid excessive capitalization or punctuation. Use good grammar and check your spelling before posting, but a surprising number of reviews contain errors that impact their usefulness. So remember to quickly run your eye over your text before hitting the “POST” button!
